Welcome to the Workshop! Since 1972, we've been nurturing the children and supporting the working families of Peaks Island. We offer a play-based, emergent-curriculum program in a loving, child-centered environment — and integrate up-to-date thinking with the close-knit warmth of our island community, for a best-of-both-worlds approach.
Our island home provides a uniquely safe and welcoming environment, and we make outdoor exploration and play a big part of every day, year-round. Whether it's at the beach, the ballfield, the horse barn, "snow mountain," visiting island farm animals or walking "dinosaur path," the island truly is our oyster. There is no better place for a child to discover the world!
We are rated as a five-star provider — the highest rating available — by the Maine Roads to Quality Registry. (In fact, due to our high rating, parents qualify for a double tax credit on childcare costs!) We are especially proud that the services we provide support young families and ensure that Peaks Island remains a vibrant, multi-generational, year-round community.
