For parents
We love our Workshop families and strive to be as responsive as possible to their individual needs. These simple guidelines help ensure that we can manage the day smoothly and accommodate all the children in the program. Complete details are in the Parent Handbook.
Schedule
The Workshop is open from 8:00am-5:00pm. If your child will miss part or all of a day, please let us know as soon as possible. We know families are busy and that appointments and opportunities arise that may interrupt the normal school day, and we try to accommodate these within reason.
Dropoff and early release
Please drop children off by 9:00am at the latest so they can participate in morning activities.
If a child can't be dropped off before our lunch time — or you collect your child before the end of their scheduled session (for an appointment or similar) — we ask (with only rare exceptions) that the child be kept out of school for the remainder of the day. The transition back into the Workshop community can be challenging.
Pickup
Scheduled pickup times are at 12:30pm, 2:45pm and 5:00pm, and we ask you to make every effort to collect your children at these times. If early pickup is a necessity, please let us know ahead of time, and avoid morning snack time (9:30-10:00am), lunchtime (11:45-12:20ish), naptime (12:30-2:30ish), and afternoon snack time (3:00-3:30pm).
Illness
We understand that keeping a child home from the Workshop can often mean a significant disruption to your day. We appreciate your understanding, especially as we work together to limit the spread of infections.
In the event of illness onset during the day, you'll be notified immediately and your child should be collected from the Workshop as soon as possible. Children with any of the following symptoms should be kept home:
- Severe cold, cough or drainage from the nose
- Fever of 100 or higher (Must be fever- and fever reducer-free for 24 hours)
- Vomiting (Must stay home for 24 hours after the last time the child vomited)
- Positive for Covid (We follow CDC guidance: Must not attend for at least five days.)
- Rashes, chicken pox, eye drainage, Strep Throat diagnosis, head lice and other conditions are also grounds for keeping your child home.
This list is an overview only; see the Parent Handbook for complete details. The health of our entire community is our first concern, and we reserve the right to exclude children we judge as a health risk or as unable to fully participate, even if they don't meet the technical illness-exclusion criteria spelled out in the Parent Handbook.
